Custom Keepsakes for Nonprofits
Morris Habitat for Humanity, located in Randolph, NJ, is a non-profit organization and an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. They operate independently to raise their own funds, find their own sites, and select their own families. Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Morris Habitat for Humanity builds and rehabilitates houses in partnership with families in need. With an emphasis on homeownership opportunities, Morris Habitat works to increase support for safe, affordable housing throughout their county and state.
Similar to most non-profits, their volunteers, sponsorships, and donors are the means to success. By the same token, this can be the biggest challenge for an organization. Morris Habitat has one of the most active volunteer programs in the area. Thousands of skilled and unskilled volunteers perform a variety of tasks both on-site, at their offices, and in their ReStore. Nevertheless, Morris Habitat has an open-door policy and is always in need of volunteers and supporters.
Commemorating 35 Years
This year marks the organization’s 35th anniversary. Searching for a unique way to celebrate the milestone, the Morris team decided to create a commemorative keepsake ornament. Dawn Sherman, Special Events Coordinator at Morris Habitat for Humanity partnered with Beacon Design to create a custom metal-etched keepsake in honor of this event.
An event planner for over 30 years, Dawn has been working as a consultant for Morris Habitat for three years. She shares that every day is more rewarding than the previous when witnessing how their work affects families in need. Furthermore, she says she enjoys seeing all of the smiling faces on the families when they dedicate a completed home to them.
Thanking Their Donors with Commemorative Keepsakes
Dawn explains that their goal for their 35th anniversary is to increase donations. With this in mind, they wanted to create a special gift to thank donors and show their appreciation. For this reason, they created the incentive that for each donation of $35 or more during the month of October, the donor will receive a limited-edition 35th Anniversary Commemorative Keepsake.
Furthermore, the one-of-a-kind two-dimensional keepsake is made 100% in the USA and finished in 24 karat gold. “Donors have loved them and are so happy to know they are made in the USA,” Dawn shares.
While donations are essential to helping Morris Habitat for Humanity support families on their path to homeownership, any donation amount helps to fuel the fight for safe, decent, and affordable housing in Morris County.
